Ryder Logistics Case Study

24th May 2011 | Lighting Case Studies

Ryder Logistics selected Maneri~Agraz to upgrade their lighting in two warehouse facilities in Roanoke, Texas.

Building 1:

Maneri~Agraz installed a T5HO linear fluorescent high bay fixture that incorporated an Advance 480 volt electronic ballast and four Sylvania Constant lamps. This lamp, which contains amalgam, was specified due to the fact that the warehouse is unconditioned. It provides maximum lumen output over a wide temperature range, so in the cold winter months as well as the hot Texas summers, the lamps will provide much higher lumen output than standard T5HO lamps.

A total of 12 fixtures were removed completely and all others were repositioned for maximum light output and efficiency. The stack aisles showed dramatic improvement due to the repositioning of fixtures.

Occupancy sensors were installed on 56% of all new fixtures in order to turn lights off when the space is unoccupied, providing significant energy savings during 2nd and 3rd shifts when lights were energized 100% of the time.

The light levels throughout the facility increased by 25% – 40% while the energy usage was reduced by over 50%.

Building 2:

This warehouse lighting system was completely redesigned due to the existing 1000 watt metal halide fixtures and the high density in which they were installed. Ryder was renovating this space for a new client and installed a new racking system. Maneri!~Agraz utilized the racking plans to design a new lighting layout that would place fixtures in center of aisles and install occupancy sensors where they made sense. The T5HO system designed by Maneri~Agraz provided a simple payback of 6 months for Ryder Logistics.

Installations were completed seamlessly and without interruption to the facility processes.
